Palestine/Israel: No Assault on Gaza – End the War, Apartheid and Occupation

By Reform & Revolution

Reform & Revolution stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people resisting apartheid and occupation.

We call for mass protests in the US and around the world against the bombardment and brutal siege of Gaza and the horrific danger of an Israeli ground invasion.

The atrocities and suffering of Palestinians & Israelis remind us of the urgency to end decades of occupation, ethnic cleansing, and imperialist domination of the region.

We reject establishment framing of this conflict as being between 2 equal parties. We stand with oppressed Palestinians in their struggle against Israeli oppression. We support a mass armed uprising against the Israeli military, democratically organized, like the First Intifada.

We oppose the right-wing, pro-capitalist, religious politics of Hamas. Their targeting of civilians is wrong and counterproductive to the Palestinian cause. We reject the weaponization of people’s grief by the Israeli state to launch a horrific assault on Gaza.

This conflict is a test of DSA’s willingness to take a principled stand, even when it is unpopular.

We commend the DSA comrades in New York and other chapters who have rallied in solidarity with Palestine despite harsh attacks from reactionaries and Democrats alike.

Our next task, though, will be even more difficult. The White House is asking Congress to approve billions in new funding for Israel’s military as they bomb and kill civilians in Gaza. The NPC must urge our DSA members in Congress to VOTE NO.

Our organization, including our elected representatives, must collectively demonstrate our principled opposition to Israeli oppression of Palestinians, colonialism, and US imperialism. Representatives of DSA voting for US military aid to Israel crosses a red line.

The NPC should rapidly organize an online town hall, including DSA Congress members, to discuss how socialists should respond to these complicated issues to allow for democratic debate and education.

Any solution must start with ending the siege of Gaza, occupation of the West Bank, discrimination against Palestinians in Israel & must grant Palestinians the right of return. We stand for a socialist future that ensures the democratic rights of all peoples in Palestine & Israel.

With the outbreak of war the ideological power of the ruling class is at its greatest.

DSA must learn to stand against this pressure to fight for independent socialist policies while always striving to build a mass movement against imperialism rooted in the working class.
