Magazine

Reform & Revolution is the magazine of our Marxist caucus within Democratic Socialists of America. We launched R&R to contribute to the mass resurgence of socialist ideas in US society, and the growing interest in political thought, theory, and debate about the best way forward for our movement. In dialogue and collaboration with others, we aim to revitalize the ideas of revolutionary Marxism as a guide to action that unites our immediate struggles for reform with the urgent need for a socialist transformation of society.

The flowering of arts and culture has accompanied and helped inspire every significant social movement in history, and we are proud to profile and cultivate the work of revolutionary artists in our magazine. Powered by mainly volunteer labor, and with our readers’ financial support, we aim to print Reform & Revolution quarterly, and to regularly publish free articles online.

If you support this work, we’re asking you to subscribe to our magazine, contributing at whatever level you are able, on a monthly or yearly basis. By giving what you can, you allow us to offer the magazine articles and artwork online for those not in a position to give. Subscribe today!

R&R Issue #10: The Challenges for Building New Left Formations in the US and Internationally – January 2023 – read & download here

In magazine #10, we look at the background of the Ukraine war and the tasks for socialists in the US to take a pro-working class stance, completely independent of Biden and the Democrats approach. We analyze the situation after the Midterm elections and reflect on the stage of labor in the US with an interview with the author of Class Struggle Unionism, Joe Burns

The main focus is on the developments of new left formations.

In the US, we look at the railway strike vote where three of DSA´s four elected officials in Congress voted in favor of banning a strike. We look at the debates in DSA New York City, where the attempts to implement more accountability of elected officials through the “1-2-3-4” resolution failed, but still outlined some of the steps needed also in other parts of the country and on a national level. We spoke with Robin Wonsley, DSA City Council member in Minneapolis, about her approach to building working-class power.

And we have reports about the challenges for new left formations in France, in Brazil and in Denmark. An article about the ongoing revolt in Iran finalizes the international outlook of this edition of our magazine.
