Housing Protest in New York: The Rent is TOO DAMN HIGH Rally and March

By Alex Rivera, New York

The Rent is TOO DAMN HIGH rally and march, organized by Housing Justice for All, served as a powerful platform for tenants and the homeless in New York state to unite against the formidable forces of real estate lobbyists and corporate landlords, who perpetuate the ongoing housing crisis. On Saturday, May 20th, this momentous event drew together a multitude of organizations from various regions of New York State, fostering solidarity and amplifying the voices of those affected by the dire state of housing.

Housing Justice for All, spearheading the initiative, skillfully orchestrated a coalition opportunity that brought together numerous organizations and hundreds of individuals in Carman Park Plaza. From there, we embarked on a spirited march, traversing the Brooklyn Bridge en route to Manhattan. The speeches delivered during the rally encompassed a wide spectrum of impassioned demands for housing reforms, with poignant moments such as a solemn minute of silence observed in honor of Jordan Neely, serving as a stark reminder of the urgent need for change.
