DSA National Convention: Support the Resolution to Discuss DSA’s International Relations

Sign & Support the Petition: Remove Resolution 14 from the Consent Agenda

Resolution 14 is currently included in the “consent agenda,” meaning the Convention will not debate this resolution, but will approve it in one big package with other resolutions that are considered non-controversial. We do not agree with this. Resolution 14’s approach of prioritizing establishing relationships with mass parties in Latin America is presented as the type of internationalism that DSA should embrace. Resolution 14 includes a proposal for DSA to join the Sao Paulo Forum without any indication that DSA would be willing to politically challenge the politics of many of the parties that dominate it.

In our view, solidarity with working-class movements internationally does not mean simply trailing mass parties like the Workers’ Party in Brazil (PT) while ignoring the Party for Socialism and Liberty (PSOL), or to support the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) while the Venezuelan government represses Marxist, trade union, and other left oppositional voices.

In order to at least allow a discussion about these topics to take place at the convention, please sign and support the petition to remove Resolution 14 from the consent agenda.

[Please read the petition to find out more and then sign it here.]
