An Uprising against Inflation and Increasing Labor Unrest Confronts an Imploding Conservative Government – with Dave Hill

Recording of an international meeting, organized by RISE (Ireland), Lernen im Kampf (Germany) and Reform & Revolution – a Marxist caucus in DSA (USA) on October 22, 2022

A looming wave of labor unrest, protests against rising heating costs – societies in England and Wales as well as in Scotland are in ferment. The conservative government under prime minister Liz Truss tried to take on a Thatcher-ite mantle, while being haunted by a weak economy, dramatic inflation and the heritage of a crisis-ridden Boris Johnson administration. It imploded.

The Corbyn movement tried to build a political alternative to the Tories (Conservative Party) and the moderate, neo-liberal Labour leaders – without success. What’s the way forward now for working-class people and the socialist left?

Dave Hill, a revolutionary socialist, a member of Anti Capitalist Resistance as well as the Labour Left Alliance in Brighton & Hove, introduced the discussion. Dave was active in the Labour Party in the 1980s and again involved in Labour in the course of the Corbyn movement.
